[lightweight-accordion title="> Colladeen – Pycnogenol comparision" title_tag="h2"]

How does Colladeen compare to Pycnogenol?

A/ Both Colladeen and Pycnogenol were inspired by Dr. Masqueliere’s work in this scientific and clinical subtype of polyphenol. Dr. Masqueliere’s work focused mainly on Pycnogenol obtained from the pine bark (Pinus pinaster), in Lamberts we decided to develop a source of anthocyanins that is natural for the diet and use grape vitis vinifera.

An anthocyanidin is an important polyphenol known to give rise to longer chain versions of itself, known as polymers (or oligomers). When more than 2, but less than 5 of these molecules, bind together they are known as oligomeric procyanindins (also known as OPCs) or PCO (procyanidolic oligomers or proanthocyanidins).

Pycnogenol (pine bark extract) is standardized to provide 65-75% of OPC in total, however, as this is a patented ingredient, only the total weight of the compound is seen on the product labels. In the Lamberts formula, the 40 mg Pycnogenol capsule will provide between 26-30 mg of OPC. Therefore, as it is the OPCs that provide the clinical benefits, we have taken the additional investment to standardize this in Colladeen, where each Colladeen tablet contains 160 mg of real OPCs.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Flaxseed Oil Oxalate-free" title_tag="h2"]

Is Lamberts  Flaxseed Oil Oxalate-free ?

Yes it is oxalate free, as is our whole range.  As for Flaxseed oil, the extraction come from the seed. Our flaxseed oil comes from brown and golden flax seeds since our main interest is in the contribution of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and both varieties have very similar properties.

The exception is a type of yellow flax seed called solin (trade name Linola), which has a completely different oil profile which is very low in omega-3 fatty acids, so we do not use this variety since it has no properties relevant to health.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Lamberts Cod Liver Oil form" title_tag="h2"]

Is Lamberts Cod Liver Oil in the triglyceride or ethyl ester form?

R/ Lamberts Cod Liver Oil is in the triglyceride form.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Too much vitamin A ?" title_tag="h2"]

It is true that fish liver oils such as cod liver oil do contain significant amounts of vitamin A in comparison to most traditional fish oil supplements (from the oil in fish meat) – and this should be of concern when taken with a multivitamin.

R/ The established upper limit for vitamin A for adults is 1500ug according to the Expert Committee on Vitamins and Minerals of the Food Standards Agency published in May 2003. Considering this is calculated on an average of 700µg per day from food this leaves a recommended maximum from supplements of 800ug/day.

The Lamberts Cod Liver Oil contains 800 µg of vitamin A per capsule and so could be taken with a multivitamin low in vitamin A in the retinol form such as Fema 45+; or those which exclude vitamin A such as Multi-Guard ADR; Strongstart MVM; Multi-Guard Control or Maxi Hair.

A number of multivitamin formulas in the Lamberts range do contain a significant dose of vitamin A and so it would not be recommended to take Cod Liver Oil alongside these. In this case we would suggest consideration of Lamberts Fish Oil which contain robust levels of the fish oil active ingredients without running the risk of consuming too much vitamin A.

When calculating the amount of vitamin A you are getting from supplements, note that the upper limit only includes the retinol form, such as retinyl acetate or retinyl palmitate, not beta-carotene.

I have to supplement with B12 but I am currently breastfeeding and I see your product is not suitable for me. Could you tell me the reason for this? I precisely try to avoid lack of B12 in breast milk because I do not eat a lot of food of animal origin.

R/ Some supplements, in certain doses, are not tested in pregnant or breastfeeding women because it is not ethical to do so. It does not necessarily mean a contraindication, but Lamberts prefers that if they are to be recommended it is a Health professional who does it. When it is a contraindication (that supposes a known problem, it is indicated as such).

A precaution is set so that people do not supplement on their own, even if they are nutrients that are in the food, without professional advice, as is the case of pregnancy / lactation. Therefore, we advise you to check your diet, perhaps help you make some changes and any decision regarding supplements with a health professional.

Lamberts has a special formula for women that can be used during pregnancy and lactation. It’s called Strong Start MVM.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Is Florisene® suitable for men?" title_tag="h2"]

Is Florisene® suitable for men?

R/ Florisene® is a supplement that is high in iron and has been formulated for a particular type of hair loss related to having low serum ferritin (iron stores) in the body.  This is most common in women, and might only be appropriate for a man whose iron stores were very low. This is best determined by a blood test. Hair loss is men can often be hereditary or sometimes due to stress. Stress related hair loss may be supported by the use of a good multivitamin and mineral preparation such as Maxi Hair® and Fish Oil. Both of these supplements ensure that your body is getting all the vital nutrients it needs for optimum health. There is currently no supplementary support for hereditary type hair loss.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Calasorb taken with a meal?" title_tag="h2"]

Does Calasorb need to be taken with a meal?

R/ Yes, it can be taken with a meal. It won’t irritate the stomach or gut either as it still has an alkaline pH due to the calcium content. Ideally though most people would still take with food as there is a risk of feeling nauseated if it is taken on an empty stomach.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Dosage per capsule of your Equinacea" title_tag="h2"]

How should I interpret the dosage per capsule of your Equinacea. It says 1000 mg and also puts 200 mg of extract.

R/ Echinacea is rich in numerous important components. Although the analysis of echinacea purpurea has provided a selection of chemical components with some pharmacological activity, it is the phenolic compounds that are used for the standardization procedures.

LAMBERTS® is in favor of the standardized extracts, since the extraction and concentration procedures of the active compounds guarantee that the vegetable product is much more powerful than those products based on the whole pulverized plant, where nothing is done to concentrate said compounds. Our 200 mg extract is obtained from more than 1000 mg of dry herb powder and therefore it is estimated to be more potent than a product that contains simply 200 mg of total pulverized plant material.

The accounts are made in the following way: An extract 5: 1 means that each 1 mg of extract is equivalent to 5 mg of the product without concentrating. Then, by a rule of three: 200 mg of concentrate (extract) is equivalent to: 200 x 5 = 1000 mg of product without concentrating. Instead of having 1000 mg without concentrating, there are 200 mg concentrated, which occupy less and are equivalent. We add Vitamin C and Zinc to our formulation as they contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Pet Nutrition Multi and Omega 3 for pet" title_tag="h2"]

My dog is a year and a half. I am giving him the Pet Nutrition Multi and I want to know if I should give him a break from taking it, or if I can continuously supply it over time. I would also like to know if this multi is enough to help prevent hair from falling out or it would be good to complement it with the Omega 3 for pet.

R/ A multi-nutrient formula is often the mainstay of a supplementation program. The food supplements are not medicines, but necessary nutrients that sometimes we cannot acquire properly from the regular diet, therefore they collaborate in completing individual nutritional requirements. Our unique multi for pets has been formulated by experts to ensure that your dog receives all the essential micronutrients it needs. It provides a wide range of vitamins and minerals, including antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, as well as minerals at adjusted levels.

Omega 3 products are routinely recommended by veterinarians for dogs and cats, and this product is an affordable way to improve your daily intake of Omega 3 fatty acids. However, you should be aware that any food supplement you intend to take or supply to your pet should be discussed with a health professional. Unfortunately, we do not have veterinary professionals on our staff, so we advise you to speak to the veterinarian who cares for your pet on the adequate supplementation and the adjustment of the doses.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Why has Lamberts® chosen bovine and non-marine chondroitin?" title_tag="h2"]

Why has Lamberts® chosen bovine and non-marine chondroitin?

Chondroitin generally comes from shark species and we are not convinced that this is a renewable resource.

We are also concerned about reports of how cruel the shark fishing industry is. The global demand for shark cartilage has meant the depletion of the world population of sharks and the loss of many of them in the oceans.

For this reason we use bovine chondroitin, as it is a by-product of the beef industry and a well-regulated high quality material. The bovine chondroitin we use is a highly refined material made from GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and USP standards (Pharmacopoeia from the United States), from Australia and New Zealand.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Fructose in Fruit Concentrates" title_tag="h2"]

I am very interested in your fruit concentrates, but I would like to know if they have lowered the fructose levels. I am fructose intolerant.

R/ In Lamberts we have two types of fruit concentrate, and neither contain artificial sweeteners, which would be a legal obligation to reflect on the product label. They are also suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and free of lactose and gelatin.

[/lightweight-accordion] [lightweight-accordion title="> Information about vitamin D3" title_tag="h2"]

I wanted to receive information about vitamin D3. Especially how to take it and if you can maintain a very long-term treatment or you have to take breaks since it is fat-soluble.

R / LAMBERTS® offer 3 presentations of vitamin D with different potencies in its natural form, according to each individual need: 400 IU (10μg), 1000 IU (25μg) and 4000 IU (100μg). Vitamin D can also be found in the multi-nutrient formulas of LAMBERTS® and in products such as:  Vitamin D3+K2Osteoguard®Chewable Calcium and  Cold Liver Oil.

This vitamin, like other fat-soluble nutrients, can be measured in Micrograms (μg) or in International Units (IU). 1 IU of vitamin D = 0.025 μg of colecalciferol.

Vitamin D is called “the sun’s vitamin”. It is essential for bone health and can slow the progression of osteoporosis, strengthen the immune system and help prevent some diseases. There are numerous studies on vitamin D that support the argument that we should all monitor our intake of vitamin D. What’s more, the body’s ability to produce vitamin D decreases with age, so vitamin D deficiencies are common in people greater.

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be ingested with food or manufactured by the body as a result of the incidence of sunlight on our skin. People with little exposure to sunlight often decide to supplement their diet with an extra supply of vitamin D. It is also important for the absorption and normal use of calcium and phosphorus, and contributes to the process of cell division.

Without enough vitamin D, the body cannot absorb calcium from food or supplements. When blood calcium levels are low, the body will remove calcium from the bones into the blood to supply the muscles (especially the heart), and the nerves with the amount they need. Over time, this reassignment of calcium leads to a loss of bone mass.

Therefore vitamin D contributes to reduce the risk of falls related to postural instability and muscle weakness. Falls are a risk factor for bone fractures in men and women from 60 years and this benefit is achieved with a dose of 20 μg daily. Today scientists continue to discover more functions of vitamin D and health professionals recommend their intake, monitoring the appropriate levels by analytics.

Update December 2020: LAMBERTS® offers 7 presentations of vitamin D3.
