Prostex® with Beta sitosterols

Beta Sitosterols is found in Saw Palmetto but it is also widely distributed in the plant kingdom and found in other plants including Nigella sativa, Pygeum africanum, Urtica dioica (stingling nettle), sea-buckthorn and even in Cannabis sativa.

It is also found in foods such as pecans, avocados, Cucurbita pepo (pumpkin seeds), cashew fruit, rice bran, wheat germ, corn oils, soybeans and dandelion coffee.In all forms it is the exact same molecular structure.

We are delighted to introduce our new Prostex®. This formula provides a full 320mg of actual beta sitosterols per 2 tablets and we use the highest quality available. It also contains 10µg of vitamin D3 per daily dose, since it plays an important role in the normal function of the immune system and healthy inflammatory response. Zinc, which contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone concentrations in the blood is included at 15mg. Plus both the vitamins C and E have been included which, like zinc, contribute to the protection of cell constituents from oxidative damage.

Prostex® also includes three important amino acids – alanine, glycine and glutamic acid, as well as a relevant level of the bioflavonoid, quercetin.

Today, “beta sitosterol” has become a household word since it is being used as a functional ingredient in many familiar food items we eat for its cholesterol-regulating properties. 

We source beta sitosterols from pine as it is a far more concentrated level than the amount found in saw palmetto and thus vastly more cost effective too. To give you a comparison: the saw palmetto berries contain a mix of fatty acids, flavonoids, polysaccharides and sitosterols. In general a typical saw palmetto product would contain 85 to 95 percent of mixed sterols and fatty acids. The mixed sterols are cholesterol, brassicasterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, beta sitosterol and comprise just about 1% of the nutritional profile of saw palmetto berries, which is tiny.
