Nicotinamide 250 mg

This is a high strength supplement that provides a level of niacin that has been used in scientific studies. Each tablet provides a full 250mg of Vitamin B3 and is made in the UK to pharmaceutical standards.

Niacin is the general term for vitamin B3, as it can occur in several forms including nicotinic acid, niacinamide, and nicotinamide, the latter of which we think is the best form to use in supplements. Niacin contributes to the normal function of the nervous system, as well as to the maintenance of normal skin and mucous membranes. Like many of the B vitamins it is also involved in the metabolic processes that release energy from food, and it contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

This is a high strength supplement that provides a level of niacin that would be difficult to obtain from your diet alone. We therefore recommend it for relatively short periods of up to 4 months, not because of any safety concerns but because the body is unlikely to need this level for an extended period.

Niacin in the form of nicotinamide present no danger when taken at the levels normally recommended for dietary supplementation. The upper safe limit is 500 mg daily. When high intakes are regularly prescribed by a doctor, it is necessary for a check to be kept on liver function because too much niacin over long period of time can be damage this organ.
