The benefits of dietary supplements are increasingly recognized by international health sector agencies such as EFSA Europe, CRN, FDA and many others.
We offer in this section the answers to the questions sent to us by customers and consumers. These are posted for informational purposes only and with no intention to prescribe or replace the advice of a health professional.
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Can you confirm if 1000 mg of Vitex Agnus is added for each tablet? Indicateing below “as 100 mg of a 10: 1 extract” it leads to confusion.
R. Herbal extracts are dry extract. The accounts are made in the following way: 100 mg of an extract 10: 1 means that each 1 mg of extract is equivalent to 100 mg of the product without concentrating. Then, by a rule of three: 100 mg of concentrate (extract) equal to: 100 x 10 = 1,000 mg of product without concentrating. “Instead of having 1,000 mg without concentrating, there are 100 mg concentrated, which occupy less and are equivalent. Vitex agnus-castus: 1000 mg (as 100 mg of an extract 10: 1)
I want to know how much d-alpha tocopherol the encapsulation of the Ref. 8508 Fish Oil.
A) LAMBERTS® fish oil undergoes a sophisticated 5-stage purification process that removes aflatoxins, heavy metals, antibiotics, PCBs, dioxins, PAHs, irradiated ingredients and pesticides, as well as any other contaminants. Subsequently while it is inside the capsules, the oil is protected from oxidation by the addition of natural vitamin E. This product contains 5 mg in its d-alpha tocopherol form.
My dog is allergic to cod oil, so I need to know which is the source of the Omega 3 of the product Omega 3 for Dogs and Cats (Code 8996-120).
A. Pet fish oil is from the same source, and therefore has the same high standards in quality tests, as Lamberts pure fish oil (8508). That is why it is indicated on the label that it is “fish body oil”. As we know, it is safer to give Omega 3 dogs from fish oil, as it has all the benefits but none of the drawbacks such as the inclusion of vitamin A, as it can become toxic at higher doses (so that your dietary intake should be considered as a whole).
I want to know if Omega 3 for Kids has gluten.
A. We confirm that our Omega 3 for Kids is free of gluten. Gluten is an allergen and as such it is legally required to reflect it on the product label. If it´s not written, is because it does not contain it. In the labels of our products we declare all ingredients, both active and inactive (excipients).
Is Myo inositol d-chiroinositol?
R/There are different forms of Inositol. Ours is MYO and not D-chiro. Myo-inositol is the most studied and is more effective than the other forms of Inositol. Some products are making a 40:1 mix from Myo to D-Chiro, but research still favors the myo.
I am taking two Lamberts® products, and I would like to know if they are purified. For me it is important to know that the supplements that are taken do not carry toxic substances.
A. The purity of the raw material is an important consideration in terms of quality.
All of our raw materials are tested in the UK to ensure they meet our strict quality standards before encapsulating and packaging for our customers.
Our products are manufactured in the United Kingdom under the strict standards of pharmaceutical manufacturing GMP “Good Manufacturing Practice”.
Here you can see the explanation.
I bought the Florisene product to try to increase the ferritin, and they tell me many options. I would like to know what is the best way to take it.
A. The best way to take the Florisene product is exactly as indicated on the label. Sometimes people add other variants that may also work, but in general we must take food supplements as described on the label of them.
Do you have a specific product with plant antioxidants (extracts of: green tea, rosemary and oregano) to complement with the Omega 3 Ultra?
R/ The body produces its own antioxidants which neutralize the effects of free radicals, but the vitamins, minerals and compounds known as phytochemicals in plant foods provide an extra value. Its best ingestion and efficacy is recommended in standardized extracts of high power and quality. The use of plant products and medicinal plants in various forms of preparations is very old, and its ingestion for therapeutic purposes was, for centuries, the main therapeutic resource available.
Hello because of the warning in so many media about palm oil, can you tell me what product Lamberts contains?
A / You can be calm. No Lamberts® product contains palm oil. all our fatty acids are also free of palm oil. Check our website and the tab of each product is included the label, which describes all the ingredients contained in the products.
Where do the blioflavonoids used in Lamberts® products come from?
R/ Our blioflavonoids come from citrus fruits. Blioflavonoids are vegetable substances, water soluble molecules and they represent a big part of the colorants in yellow, red and blue vegetables.
They are usually found in the inner white part of citrus skin, amongst them the most know are rutin, quercetin, citrine and hesperidin. Vitamin C and bioflavonoids normally occur together in nature. Bioflavonoids have antioxidant properties very similar to those of vitamin C, and invitro, have been shown to protect vitamin C.
Is 5HTP free of Peak X?
R/ We can confirm that our 5 HTP is free of the contaminant Peak X. I enclose the information that you can find in our web and that it is applied in all our nutritional supplements. “All our products are manufactured under the GMP manufacturing standards” Good Manufacturing Practice “(quality control established by WHO). It is the best system to guarantee the quality of the medicines and is the best control that can assure the quality of the product that is received.
A) They involve the integral control of processing from the selection of raw materials, adequate facilities, techniques for processing, cleaning, staff training, packaging, labeling, transportation, storage and all that may directly or indirectly affect The product quality
B) The factory receives periodic, impromptu inspections by the UK Department of Health Medicines Agency, the body that controls the enforcement of these standards in England. They take lots of samples from different lots and analyze them.
C) The GMP standards do not constitute a legal requirement for the manufacture of food supplements, in addition they are very expensive, and because of this many manufacturers of nutritional supplements do not operate under these standards.
D) We have a team of expert buyers, who look around the world, and select the best raw materials in their natural form.
E) Each raw material comes to us with its corresponding Certificate of Analysis. In our laboratory several samples are taken and the power is analyzed by HPLC + and then passed to the analysis for the detection of pesticides, herbicides, microbial contamination, aflatoxins, fungi, dioxins, and contaminants such as heavy metals.
I have seen that in the ingredients of Silica Complete is methylsulfonimethane and I would like to know if it is derived from sulfamide because I am allergic.
R/ Is not the same. Sulfamide is an antibiotic and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is an organic sulfur compound also known as methylsulfone or dimethylsulfone. MSM is a chemical that is present in plants, animals and humans. It can also be made in the laboratory.
Does Green Lip Mussel contain glucosamine? Does it matter which one you take?
R/Lamberts® Glucosamine sulfate is a pure compound derived from shellfish, while the Green Mussel (PernaCanálicus-GLM) is found only in the clear, uncontaminated waters that surround New Zealand. Its active principles reside in a protein compound whose properties are unique to this type of mollusk. The observation that the Māori, who regularly consume GLM suffer less arthritis than their continental relatives, led to the development of this compound as an anti-arthritic supplement in 1974.
Could you tell me what is the source of the vitamin B-12?
R/ Lamberts®’ vitamin B-12 source is methylcobalamin to favors bioavailability since our system transforms cyano and hydroxyl into methylcobalamin. It is through fermentation of bacteria so that it can be consumed by vegans and vegetarians. It is not sourced from animals.
I need to know if the product Garlic1650mg has full coating.
R/ Our Garlic 1650mg does not have full coating, but rather a special coating that reduces the garlic odor. Some of our products have full coating when it is considered important to guarantee its release only at the intestinal level. In this case, we believe garlic stimulates the gastric acids and enables us to better digest iron and absorb nutrients from food. It is also an important nutrient to optimize our pancreatic and liver functions.
I have a customer with Celiac Disease and would like to know if the VITEX contains gluten.
R /In our product, VITEX, the following allergens are excluded: wheat, gluten, barley, soy, eggs, milk, dairy products, lactose, nuts, sulfates, celery, fish, seafood and yeast. It is legally mandatory to disclose on the labels of every product all possible allergens contained within its composition, which is why when a LAMBERTS® product contains an allergen it is reflected on the label (in bold font). If an allergn is not reflected it is because it is not contained.
Some examples of products that contain possible allergens which are mentioned on the label are: Fosfatidil Serina (contains soy) and Glucosamina Completa (contains seafood).
In 1999, the Journal of National Cancer Institute reported some findings in an animal study they had conducted on the incidence of cancer-related smoking and beta carotene intake. They used a synthetic version of beta carotene and at much higher levels than we would recommend for a daily dose. The study showed a slightly higher incidence of cancer in the group of smokers who received beta-carotene than the group of smokers without beta-carotene. Therefore it was established that giving large doses of any single synthetic antioxidant isolated can result in it becoming a pro-oxidant, so we do not supply synthetic beta carotene in high doses.
Our current recommendation for the use of natural beta-carotene is that supplemental levels (between 8-15mg per day) are reasonable and indeed safe, although labeling guidelines require us to advise with regard to smokers on the product label. Our Beta Carotene is natural and is derived from Dunaliella salina algae. It is naturally extracted from a pink alga that lives on the surface of salty lakes and contains small amounts of other mixed carotenoids. The sunflower seed oil we use is not ,
What is the definition of lactose, lactase and food allergies?
R/ In the terms Lactose and Lactose the digestive system is involved.
– Lactose: It is a type of sugar found in milk and dairy products.
– Lactase: It is an enzyme that the body needs to digest lactose. Lactose intolerance is when the small intestine does not produce enough of the enzyme Lactose.
– Food Allergies: These involve the involvement of the immune system that fights infections, as it reacts disproportionately to the proteins contained in that food. The body cope with the invader and releases a number of chemicals such as histamine. Some people with food allergies can become seriously ill suddenly if they ingest, or even if they come in contact with the food to which they are allergic.
Milk allergy is not the same as lactose intolerance.
I would like to know if the multi-nutrient formula for dogs, Pet Nutrition, is suitable for vegan dogs and what the origin of the meat flavor is.
R/ Pet multi is a vegetarian formula but it is not vegan due solely to vitamin D which comes from sheep’s wool. However, sheep do not suffer in this process, nonetheless, some people are very strict and our parent company prefers to be explicit in the information it provides to its customers. Therefore, the decision would be up to its owner.
The flavor of the beef is made from yeast.
R/ It is much better to take Calcium with Vitamin D. However, you should first consult your health care provider about vitamin D levels. Currently, vitamin D deficiency is a matter of concern for many health professionals (including gynecologists, traumatologists, cardiologists, etc.), since there are deficiencies of this nutrient and of continuous way the clinical studies reveal the great importance of the same for our organism.
In Lamberts® we have several formulations that contain both nutrients, and others with these nutrients separately. These products with vitamin D and Calcium individually carry a greater concentration, since they are designed for deficiency states of these nutrients.
I want to know what “Reticulated Cellulose Gum” means, which appears on the 25mg Zinc label.
R/Reticulated Cellulose Gum is an anti-caking agent (excipient or inactive ingredient that has no contribution or nutritional value), which is used to ensure that the tablets dissolve within a specific time, helping in their decomposition. In the case of Zinc 25 mg the disintegration time is less than one hour.
If the recommended daily intake of Omega 3 for an adult under 40 years of age is 1000mg, how many milligrams of Omega 3 would I be able to obtain from two capsules of Pure Fish? What would be the difference between taking the Cod Liver Oil in addition to vitamins A, D and E which it contains? In the pot one capsule a day is recommend.
R/In answer to your questions; I can facilitate the following information:
Cod Livre Oil chemical compsition:
The components of Cod Liver Oil are vitamin A (antimicrobial factor and growth stimulant), vitamin D, and the essential fatty acids Omega 3 (EPA and DHA). There are also important therapeutic benefits linked to phosphates, chlorine, iodine and bromine.
This oil is, in addition, made up of:
Glycerol esters (85%) of unsaturated fatty acids: oleic acid, linoleic, gadoleic and palmitoleic.
Glycerol esters (15%) of saturated fatty acids: myristic acid, palmitic acid, and traces of stearic acid.
IMPORTANT: Due to Lamberts Healthcare’s 5 stage purification process.
Differences between Pure Fish Oil and Cod Liver Oil:
Cod liver oil and Fish Oil are similar, but have different compositions: Fish oil has a much lower content of vitamins A and D in comparison with Cod Liver Oil. This could pose a problem if you need to exceed the daily dosage recommended of vitamins A and D in order to benefit from therapeutic quantities of EPA and DHA from Cod Liver Oil. These vitamins are fat soluble, therefore it is possible that a dietary excess could be accumulated in your body and be harmful. A possible hypervitaminosis A and D (especially A) could only take place by consuming a dosage really over the recommended on the label. Since our bodies naturally produce vitamin D when exposed to the sunlight, a common way to benefit from such oils while avoiding overdoses (very rare otherwise), is by taking cod liver oil during the fall and winter, and fish oil during the spring and summer. The only way to ensure there won’t be a deficit or overdose of vitamin D (caused by supplements) is to conduct an analysis of the vitamin levels.
Is LAMBERTS® Selenium Organic or Inorganic?
R/ Practically all our formulations of both selenium and compound formulas are organic selenium (L-selenomethionine) or a combination of organic and inorganic selenium (L-selenomethionine + sodium selenite). The presentation containing only inorganic selenium is BetaGlucan Complex (sodium selenite).
¿Are our pots of material HDPE?
R/ Yes, the LAMBERTS® pots are made of HDPE (High Density Polythylene)
I would like to buy vitamin C from LAMBERTS®, but I do not see clear whether it is ascorbic acid or pure vitamin C, because I have been advised not to buy ascorbic acid because it is not exactly vitamin C.
R/ Ascorbic acid is the most common form of vitamin C found in nutritional supplements and is also the form found in foods. Therefore, it is not true that ascorbic acid is not pure vitamin C as you have been informed.
On the other hand, vitamin C can be obtained naturally and synthetically. The natural sources are levorotatory ascorbic acid (L-isomer) and levorotatory sodium ascorbate, present in different foods. Most of the production of vitamin C used to be synthetic; however, today most of the world production is obtained via fermentation with microorganisms that constitutes a natural form of production.
Synthetic ascorbic acid produced from corn is increasingly disused, however, even though Lamberts obtains its vitamin C from natural sources, the affirmation maintained in certain media, that synthetic vitamin C has less bioavailability and activates than a natural vitamin C, totally and absolutely lacking clinical evidence that can sustain it.
There are other chemical forms of vitamin C that are called mineral ascorbates. In this type of vitamin C, minerals are combined with ascorbic acid, resulting in less acidic mineral salts of ascorbic acid. Their pH is 5 to 7. Therefore, in theory they are less irritating to the gastric mucosa than ascorbic acid, however, there does not appear to be conclusive clinical evidence that this is so. Calcium ascorbate, sodium ascorbate, potassium ascorbate and magnesium are the most common forms.
What some studies have shown is that ascorbic acid combined with citrus bioflavonoids is more bioavailable than the synthetic form of ascorbic acid alone (Marti, Mena et al., 2009). Indeed, in nature, vitamin C is present together with other substances, which help increase its absorption and bioavailability.
On the other hand, the rose hip is one of the plant sources richest in vitamin C, since approximately 7% of its weight corresponds to the vitamin.
The most popular formulations of Lamberts, following these strict clinical parameters, are those that combine ascorbic acid of vegetable origin with citrus bioflavonoids and rosehips. These formulations are usually of time release to avoid any possibility of acidification in the organism.
However, we also have vitamin C in the form of calcium ascorbate in other formulations, to satisfy users who prefer the administration of this form of vitamin C or require ingesting large doses of it by indication of a health professional.
