The results of a 12-week clinical study show that chlorogenic acid (a compound commonly found in coffee) improves the loss of mass and body fat. p>
Previous studies had already pointed to a 6.9% decrease in glucose absorption with coffee products enriched with chlorogenic acid, without seeing these effects in coffee products normal or decaffeinated.
In this latest study, the effect of coffee products enriched with chlorogenic acid was compared with that of normal instant coffee in 30 overweight people. The results of total mass loss were 5.4 and 1.7kg respectively, which shows an important effect on total weight loss. It seems that this effect is due to the fact that chlorogenic acid stimulates a lower absorption and utilization of dietary glucose, which would lead to the body being forced to use more body fat stores.
